A house with tradition
Hospitality has a long tradition in our house, because already in the 15th century there was a restaurant at the location of today’s hotel “Schwarzer Bär”.
Today, the birthplace of the legendary operetta tenor Richard Tauber is a third-generation family-run hotel in Linz in a class of its own. Under the watchful eye of the Nell family, who have been running the hotel since 1977, it has evolved from a classic hotel into a meeting place. The motto “tradition meets modernity” is our top priority. Despite constant modernizations and expansions, characterized by innovations and creative ideas of the entire Bären team, care is always taken to preserve and perpetuate the hotel’s tradition-bound history.
In addition to the owners Michael Nell and Lisa Sigl, chef Dieter Gütlbauer and Rooftop7 bar manager Daniel Ehrengruber and their teams are responsible for the great success of the house.
